Water Supply In Syria Cut Off After John McCain Meets With Turkish President

The timing is suspect.

Water Supply In Syria Cut Off After John McCain Meets With Turkish President

Just a matter of days after John McCain made an “unusual” trip to Syria and Turkey, the Turkish government has cut off water supplies from the Euphrates River into northern Syria, violating international conventions on water rights.

While some measure of stability has returned to pockets of Northern Syria following the Syrian Army’s recent liberation of Al-Qaeda from Aleppo and elsewhere, external forces seem determined to keep the region volatile, regardless of the cost. In the latest example of aggressive foreign intervention in Syria, Turkey, which has long played an antagonistic role in Syria’s nearly six-year-long conflict, has now cut off the flow of the Euphrates River into Syria, depriving the nation of one of its primary sources of water.

According to the Kurdish Hawar News Agency, Turkey cut water supplies to Syria around Feb. 23, which subsequently forced a hydroelectric plant at the Tishrin Dam to shut down while also significantly reducing water levels on its associated reservoir. The dam supplies both water and power to key parts of northern Syria, such as the city of Manbij and other parts of the predominantly Kurdish Kobani Canton.

The dam is one of several major dams along the Euphrates River. Just downstream from Tishrin lies the Tabqa Dam and its reservoir Lake Assad, which supplies Aleppo with most of its power and drinking water, as well as irrigation water for over 640,000 hectares (2,500 square miles) of farmland. A city official in Manbij told Hawar that the city would provide generator fuel to civilians to help cope with the blackout that has resulted from the river being cut off. The same official added that Turkey had “violated the international conventions of water and rivers energy by cutting off Euphrates water.”

This is not the first time Turkey has deprived Syrians of water as a means to advance their political goals in the region. Turkey previously cut the river off in May of 2014, causing water levels on Lake Assad to drop by over 20 feet and creating the potential for genocide by means of dehydration. By blocking the river, Turkey threatens Iraqi civilians as well. Major urban centers like Mosul, whose water supplies largely depend on reservoirs fed by the Euphrates, could be gravely impacted if the river continues to be blocked.

Location on Google Maps

The act of cutting off the river is not unprecedented, but its timing is peculiar. Just days prior to Turkey’s act, U.S. Senator John McCain “secretly” visited the Kobani Canton, the very region that now finds itself without water, before heading to Turkey, where he met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.  According to the senator’s office, “Senator McCain’s visit was a valuable opportunity to assess dynamic conditions on the ground in Syria and Iraq.” It adds that McCain looks forward to working with the Trump administration and military leaders “to optimize our approach” on fighting the Islamic State.

While the U.S. has backed the Kurds in their fight to keep their territories along the Syrian-Turkish border free of terrorist influence, it has come at the cost of greatly complicating diplomatic relations between the U.S. and Turkey.  For example, in early 2016, Erdogan dramatically demanded that the U.S. choose between an alliance with Turkey or with the Syrian Kurds. The diplomatic stand-off has since reached new heights of tension, with Turkey threatening to invade Kurdish-held Manbij less than two weeks ago. Manbij is suffering the most from Turkey’s blockage of the Euphrates, suggesting that the move could be intended to destabilize the Kurds before something more drastic takes place.

It also warrants mentioning that despite Erdogan’s and McCain’s claims that they are eager to “defeat” the Islamic State and other terrorist factions, both have close ties to those very same groups. This, of course, suggests that McCain’s visit, as well as recent moves by Turkey, have ulterior motives that have yet to be publicly expressed.

For example, McCain has been so intent on removing Assad from power that he has fostered relationships with the Syria’s “moderate rebels” and its more notorious opposition factions such as the Islamic State. Photographic evidence has confirmed this, with one infamous photo showing McCain posing with Khalid al-Hamad – a “moderate” rebel who gained notoriety after a video of him eating the heart of a Syrian Army soldier went viral online. McCain has also admitted meeting with ISIS on national television, going so far as to acknowledge that he is still in contact with the infamous terrorist group.

Erdogan, for his part, was revealed to be a major player in the smuggling of Islamic State oil out of Syria for sale on the global market. It was these oil sales that enabled the Islamic State to grow into what it is today and to become one of the world’s most well-funded terror groups.

With such connections now well-documented, it seems unlikely that McCain and Erdogan discussed how to defeat the Islamic State. Based on the evidence, it seems much more likely that both remain eager to destabilize the region due to their shared goal of deposing Assad. With Turkey already working to destabilize Northern Syria by cutting off key resources, we will soon see what other measures may have been discussed during this “secret” meeting.

Study: Mainstream Media Coverage Of Trump’s First Month 88 Percent “Hostile”

A “Meticulous” study conducted by the Media Research Center found that 88% of broadcast news coverage on President Trump and his administration was “Hostile” during his first 30 days in office.

Study Mainstream Media Coverage Of Trump’s First Month 88 Percent “Hostile”

The antagonism between Trump and the “Mainstream Media” is no secret, with Trump recently calling corporate-owned news media the “Enemy of the American People.” Now a new study, conducted by the Media Research Center (MRC), has confirmed that the media’s coverage of Trump has been anything but balanced, with 88% of all news coverage of the administration within its first 30 days in office found to be overtly “hostile.” The study analyzed evening newscasts on the “Big Three” networks – ABC, NBC, and CBS – for both tone and content during Trump’s first month in the White House. They found that the three networks had collectively produced around 16 hours of coverage on Trump and his administration, representing 54% of their total coverage for the entire month.

“Our measure of media tone excludes sound-bites from identified partisans, focusing instead on tallying the evaluative statements made by reporters and the nonpartisan talking heads (experts and average citizens) included in their stories,” wrote Rich Noyes – research director for the MRC – along with fellow MRC analyst Mike Ciandella. “Our measure of media tone excludes sound-bites from identified partisans, focusing instead on tallying the evaluative statements made by reporters and the nonpartisan talking heads (experts and average citizens) included in their stories,” the pair added.

Trump bad press 30 days

Despite the study’s focus on allegedly nonpartisan journalists and experts, the networks were found to have filled their stories with quotes largely from citizens angry about Trump’s policies, giving minimal airtime to Trump supporters. It was also found that reporters “often injected their own anti-Trump editorial tone into the coverage. ‘It has been a busy day for presidential statements divorced from reality,’ CBS Evening News anchor Scott Pelley […] began his February 6 broadcast.”

The study also noted that Trump’s so-called “Muslim ban” drew the most negative coverage, netting over three hours in total, though the border wall issue was a close second. The study also reported that “nearly an hour of coverage (56 minutes) was given over to anti-Trump protests on various topics, with nearly one-fifth (82 out of 442) of the Trump stories or briefs aired during these 30 days including at least some discussion of an anti-Trump protest.”

A previous MRC study had found that negative coverage of his campaign was similarly high with 91% of broadcast coverage at the time found to cast the Trump campaign in a negative light. With trust in the media at an all-time low and with a majority of Americans believing that the media is too critical of Trump, this latest study only confirms that the mainstream media remains remarkably out of touch with the average American.

New Witnesses Accuse Fmr UK Prime Minister Of Pedophilia, Ritual Murder

Sir Edward Heath, former Prime Minister of England, stands accused of rampant pedophilia and participating in ritualistic child murder by former police officers and alleged victims.

New Witnesses Accuse Fmr UK Prime Minister Of Pedophilia, Ritual Murder

In recent months, high-ranking politicians, attorneys, doctors and others have been accused or caught participating in depraved acts involving the sexual abuse of children. While the media has largely shied away from these stories, there is no denying that the tide of arrests is developing into something truly unprecedented. However, these revelations involving the widespread practice of pedophilia among the world’s wealthy and powerful pale in comparison to explosive new testimony and allegations that surfaced over the weekend regarding the disturbing private life of former Prime Minister of England, Sir Edward Heath. While many noted “conspiracy theorists” have long asserted that Heath was a pedophile of the worst order, a lack of witnesses and public attention as well as an alleged and highly sophisticated cover-up kept these allegations on the sidelines.

Now, several new witnesses – former victims and high-ranking officials – have come forward, accusing Heath of unimaginable atrocities against England’s most vulnerable. The first of these allegations to surface came to light this past Sunday when the Daily Mail revealed that Wiltshire Chief Constable Mike Veale regards the accusations against Heath as “totally convincing” and “120% true.” Veale has been investigating allegations against Heath since the pedophile scandal surrounding BBC icon Jimmy Savile broke in 2015. Savile, a close friend of Heath, was found to have abused more than 500 children,  acts which were long covered up by the “establishment.” Since Savile scandal became public, more than 30 people have come forward with claims of sexual abuse against the former Prime Minister. Veale also supported claims that Heath’s crimes had come to light much earlier, some dating back to the late 1980s, but had been covered up due to Heath’s powerful stature.

After Veale’s confirmation that he and others in the police force were fully convinced of Heath’s guilt, several women who had accused Heath of sexually abusing children for years dropped fresh allegations just today. These women claim that Heath not only raped children, but ritually murdered them. According to the new accusations, Heath was part of a satanic sex cult run by the women’s parents and was involved in the murders of an estimated 16 children. If true, Heath would have been one of the worst child murderers in British history. The women had initially made these same claims in 1989 but were ignored by police at the time. These allegations are just one of the many probes being pursued by British police in the investigation overseen by Mike Veale. The investigation has so far cost British taxpayers over £883,431.

While the accusations may seem astounding and far-fetched, many cases of powerful figures involved in pedophile have also coincided with accusations of ritual murder and Satanism. The most well-known of these cases took place in the U.S. – the Franklin cover-up. When a Nebraska Credit Union was raided by federal agencies in 1988, the Nebraska legislature began to investigate Republican Party activist and the credit union’s manager Lawrence King Jr. While the investigation originally focused on King’s shady finances, it soon exploded into a investigation of a nationwide child abuse ring and satanic ritual murders involving some of the state’s and nation’s most powerful politicians at the time. Soon after, a cover-up took place and the lead investigator of the legislature’s probe was suddenly and violently murdered. Considering all of the high-profile pedophile cases coming to light, these latest allegations against one of England’s most powerful politicians suggests that pedophilia and ritual murder often go hand-in-hand, forming one of the great unspoken evils in our world today, one that is quickly coming to light despite the establishment’s best efforts to keep it hidden from public view.

Former NOAA Scientist Blows Whistle On Manipulation Of Climate Change Data

A retired NOAA scientist has proven that an influential study on climate change intentionally used manipulated data to suggest an increased rise in global temperatures.

Former NOAA Scientist Blows Whistle On Manipulation Of Climate Change Data

Potentially explosive allegations have surfaced casting doubt on the validity of critical climate change data published by NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) that subsequently influenced multi-billion dollar decisions made by world leaders at the 2015 Paris Climate Conference.

On Sunday Feb 4, John Bates, former NOAA Meteorology Principal Scientist and winner of the US Department of Commerce Gold Medal in 2014 for his work in preservation of climate data records, published a bombshell post titled Climate Scientists Versus Climate Data, on the climate change blog Climate Etc., lampooning the seminal climate change work of former director of the National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) Tom Karl.

Bates claims to have extensive documentation proving that Karl made, ”decisions that maximize warming and minimize documentation. “ The report in question was published by the journal Science on Jun 4, 2015, just five months before the 2105 United Nations Climate Change Conference. The Karl report directly refuted the somewhat inconvenient 2013 UN IPCC (United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) report also known as the Fifth Assessment Report, which concluded that rate of global warming decreased from 1998-2012 when compared to the global warming trend from 1951-2012. The phenomenon was dubbed the “global warming hiatus”.

NOAA was quick to applaud the study on its website stating of the Karl paper shortly after it was published, “A new study published online today in the journal Science finds that the rate of global warming during the last 15 years has been as fast as or faster than that seen during the latter half of the 20th Century. The study refutes the notion that there has been a slowdown or “hiatus” in the rate of global warming in recent years.”

The report’s ultimate validation, however, was its influence on the 2015 UN Climate Change Conference. In his blog post Dr. Bates writes, “Gradually, in the months after K15 [Tom Karl’s paper] came out, the evidence kept mounting that Tom Karl constantly had his ‘thumb on the scale’—in the documentation, scientific choices, and release of datasets—in an effort to discredit the notion of a global warming hiatus and rush to time the publication of the paper to influence national and international deliberations on climate policy.” Indeed, world leaders have pledged hundreds of billions of dollars to support climate change research.

It bears mentioning that despite the unexpected results of the Fifth Assessment Report, the overall conclusion of scientists at that time remained dire stating that, “Warming of the climate system is unequivocal, and since the 1950s, many of the observed changes are unprecedented over decades to millennia.” They also stated that,” Human influence on the climate system is clear. This is evident from the increasing greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere, positive radiative forcing, observed warming, and understanding of the climate system.” In effect, apart from the assertions of the Karl paper, the larger facts surrounding climate change remain the same according to the mainstream scientific consensus.

The conclusions drawn by Bates included recommendations for beefing up legislation regarding the archiving of federal climate data sets (the issue at the heart of Karl’s alleged malfeasance), enforcement of such legislation and, “a renewed effort by scientists and scientific societies to provide training and conduct more meetings on ethics.”

Yemeni Journalist Poisoned After Investigating Oil Company And Government Corruption

Yemeni journalists are demanding justice after 35 year-old reporter Mohammed Abdu Al-Absi was found to have been poisoned to death during a controversial investigation

Yemeni Journalist Poisoned After Investigating Oil Company And Government Corruption

Evidence has now come forward proving that journalist Mohammed Abdu al-Absi had been poisoned, leading to his untimely death late last year. Al-Absi was investigating oil companies owned by members of the Houthi leadership, and had also recently published a series of reports with evidence of corrupt government activities in energy and weapons transactions. Given the sudden and mysterious circumstances of al-Absi’s death, family and the Yemeni Journalists Union filed a complaint with the Attorney General, demanding an autopsy of the body. Burial was postponed for nearly three weeks while samples were flown to Jordan for testing. The issued medical report have revealed that the death of 35-year-old al-Absi was a direct result of poisoning.

The journalist died unexpectedly of heart failure on Dec. 20, 2016 while en route to a city hospital. The same night, he had met his cousin for dinner in the capital city. Both al-Basi and his cousin fell ill, vomiting blood. Al-Basi passed away quickly while his cousin survived after being treated in the intensive care unit. Al-Absi was a well-recognized journalist within Yemen, having worked for several political publications and having founded the National Coalition Against the LNG deal in 2010. He also wrote actively on his blog and published a collection of poems titled “a drop when alone, a rain when together” through the Azmena Publishing House in Amman.

“We are troubled by the passing of Mohamed al-Absi in such unclear circumstances and support his family and the Yemeni Journalists Syndicate in their demands for a serious and independent investigation in the case as well as an autopsy by a doctor representing the union to clarify the cause of his death,” stated Phillippe Leruth, President of the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ), Philippe Leruth, who has teamed up with the Yemeni Journalists Syndicate (YJS) to seek justice on behalf of al-Absi. The Union requested the autopsy be performed by an international committee headed by the Red Cross.

A statement released by the Information Ministry expressed “In the days before his death, the journalist al-Absi, who was working in one of the Ministry’s institutions before the coup, was working on a statistical investigations on serious issues and documents that condemn the coup makers, especially documents related to oil and arms”. Al-Basi had reportedly been exploring suspicions of energy companies operating on the black market. Following his assassination, activists published documents found in his possession that suggested that Houthi spokesman Mohammed Abdul Salam owns an oil company involved in illegal activities in Houthi-controlled areas of the country.

Al-Absi’s biography on the Gulf Pulse reads “Mohamed Abdu al-Absi is a journalist who was tried in Yemen after the Arab Spring in 2012, by the political wing affiliated with the Yemeni Muslim Brotherhood. He is an anti-corruption activist, a writer and poet, and founder and president of the alliance to fight illegal government deals”.
