Vietnam War Veteran's Body Displayed At Wake Without Coffin

People are outraged over photos on social media of a Vietnam War veteran displayed at his wake on a gurney covered in an American flag.

No coffin was available for the visitation held at Heritage Funeral Home in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, WTVC reports.

“At first we were okay with it,” said a family member, “but like I told the guy, I said this was very disrespectful to my dad.”

Taylor’s family said the funeral home refused to put George Taylor in a casket because of problems with his life insurance payment.

Taylor’s son, James, said the family was given little notice of the problem prior to the visitation.

“They came to me and told me that unless $9,000 was paid, they couldn’t put him into the ground,” he told ABC 7 New York.

“Mr. Taylor was a two-term Vietnam Vet,” wrote Ella Moss on Facebook. “We live in the Greatest Country in the world, and this is the best we can do for our soldiers. Not even a pillow for his head.”

Funeral home representative David Cummings said they did what the family asked.

“We were trying to honor the request and let them have some closure by viewing their loved one.”

DIY Home cremation is sweeping the UK and will be coming to the US this summer.

DIY Home Cremation

CremMate comes with thoughtful features included. These add a truly personal touch to the occasion. Included as standard are a diffuser with a range of scents designed to invoke warm memories and ‘Feed the Flame’, a specially designed connector which allows you to run a barbecue off the same gas cylinder for a more cost-effective wake. The connector is also compatible with patio heaters allowing guests to remain outside for longer potentially helping the host to further reduce the overall cost of the day.

A further add-on – the ‘Phoenix Smoke Plume’ – will appeal to sports fans and the patriotic as it will enable them to send up a plume of smoke in team colors or a flag of choice in a strikingly visual tribute.

Castro Funeral - jeep-carrying-castros-ashes-breaks-down-during-his-funeral-procession

One final dose of Karma! The Jeep carrying Castro’s ashes breaks down during his final funeral procession and needed to be pushed by soldiers.

Sometimes it is as though God is watching, and has a wicked sense of humor.

Castro’s ashes were interred in a private ceremony Sunday, nine days after the official mourning period began.

The breakdown came in the midst of throngs of “adoring fans” chanting “Long Live Fidel!” in state-mandated displays of emotion.

The breakdown of the Russian-made jeep was ironically symbolic of the barbaric decades of Castro’s rule on the island nation.

“Haha! Hearse carrying diabolical stalinist despot #FidelCastro breaks down during funeral parade processional. #karma, you marvelous bitch!” @Reaganista tweeted.

They lined up by the thousands, acting somber if told to or raucous if needed, Cubans pretended to be saddened by the death of one the Western Hemisphere’s most brutal dictators.

With the exception of the faux-praise from Cubans, only leftist world leaders like Barack Obama, Jimmy Carter, Vladimir Putin and groups like Black Lives Matter praised the hellbound dead man.

“Fidel ascends to the realm of the ancestors, we summon his guidance, strength, and power as we recommit ourselves to the struggle for universal freedom. Fidel Vive!” Black Lives Matter wrote on an official page.

The Cuban military fired a 21-gun salute and crowds at the entrance to the cemetery sang the national anthem as the ashes entered about 40 minutes later. The ceremony lasted more than an hour and took place out of the public eye after Cuban officials made a last-minute cancellation of plans to broadcast the events live on national and international television. International media were also barred from the ceremony, Fox News reports.

Castro was responsible for the deaths of tens of thousands of people and the exile and displacement of millions. His brutal dictatorship was marked by constant antagonism toward everything America represented: Freedom, democracy, liberty and justice.

The breakdown won’t deter the man’s march straight to hell for too long.

Just another example of the failure of his wonderful socialist revolution. How very appropriate!

a very avid fisherman

A funeral procession pulled into a cemetery. Several carloads of family members followed a black truck towing a boat with a coffin in it.

A passer-by remarked, “That guy must have been a very avid fisherman.”

“Oh, he still is,” remarked one of the mourners. As a matter of fact, he’s headed off to the lake as soon as we bury his wife.”

When I was younger I hated going to weddings. It seemed that all of my aunts and the grandmotherly types used to come up to me, poking me in the ribs and cackling, telling me, ‘You’re next.’

They stopped that after I started doing the same thing to them at funerals.
