Ahmadinejad Caught Off Guard By Wife Of Kidnapped Israeli Soldier

Wife of Kidnapped Israeli Soldier Confronts Ahmadinejad.

The wife of an Israeli soldier kidnapped by Hezbollah confronted Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad at a news conference at the United Nations, urging him to use his influence over the guerrilla group to allow aid workers to see her husband.

In an exchange broadcast on Israeli radio stations Wednesday, Karnit Goldwasser accused the Iranian leader of responsibility for her husband’s capture.

“My name is Karnit and I’m the wife of Goldwasser that was kidnapped by Hezbollah to Lebanon more than a year ago and you’re responsible for this by your support. I’m asking how come you’re not allowing the Red Cross to go to visit them,” Goldwasser said at the Tuesday news conference.

Ahmadinejad ignored her, saying “next question.”

Goldwasser told Israeli Army Radio on Wednesday that Ahmadinejad was clearly caught off guard. “He was pretty surprised to find me there,” she said. “The distance between us was about two meters (yards),”

Goldwasser’s husband, Israeli soldier Ehud Goldwasser, and Eldad Regev were seized in a July 2006 Hezbollah cross-border raid, triggering a 34-day war between Israel and Hezbollah.

Hezbollah did not comment on Tuesday’s incident at the U.N. In the past, Hezbollah has said the two soldiers are being treated “humanely,” but it has not provided any sign of life from the men and refused to allow the Red Cross to see them.

Ahmadinejad Thumbs His Nose At The U.N.

As if we needed more proof that the U.N. is worthless and weak, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad stood in front of the U.N. General Assembly and basically told them to kiss his ass. Ahmadinejad said his nation will ignore demands by the Security Council to halt uranium enrichment and in his opinion the nuclear issue of Iran is now closed.

Iran tells U.N.: Nuclear issue ‘closed’.

Iran’s defiant stance on its nuclear research program took center stage Tuesday at the opening of the General Assembly, with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad declaring the issue “closed” while leaders of France and Germany issued ominous warnings about his nation’s alleged weapons ambitions.

“In the last two years, abusing the Security Council, the arrogant powers have repeatedly accused Iran and even made military threats and imposed illegal sanctions against it,” Ahmadinejad said. “I officially announce that in our opinion the nuclear issue of Iran is now closed and has turned into an ordinary agency matter” between Iran and the U.N.’s nuclear watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency, he said.

The Iranian leader said his nation would ignore demands by the Security Council to halt uranium enrichment activities.

Hillarycare…. Do They Think We Are Nuts?

Nurse Ratched from “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” has become a popular metaphor for the corrupting influence of power and authority in bureaucracies.

Hillary’s similarities to Nurse Ratched are eerie.

Hillary Clinton and health care do not mix.

Putting Hillary in charge of the Democratic health-care plan for the election is a little like asking Mike Dukakis to be in charge of military photo ops. Dukakis, one might suppose, would tell candidates they should stay away from tanks, and if they ever get near one, to at least refuse the headgear. Clinton, for her part, has taken a similar tack, using the 1993 plan like a chart of troubled waters.

The problem is, even without the ludicrous headgear, the famous Dukakis photo would have been a disaster because it showed Dukakis in a tank. It wasn’t the headgear that was the problem, it was the nerdy candidate.

Likewise, a look at the Clinton plan suggests that the fundamental problem from 1993 is still with us: Hillary Clinton and health care do not mix.
