Gambling on Defeat

Just to back up my previous post, this is from a great piece by Michael Novak on NRO.

In Congress, Democrats (and the occasional Republican like Maine’s Chuck Hagel) would fulfill the prediction of Osama bin Laden, who said that Americans would lose heart and go home. This is the road the Democrats put us on on Friday. They have marched into untenable territory, and they have now exposed their flank to a withering enfilade. Once again, they have repeated their deed of 39 years ago, turning victory into defeat, setting the stage for last-minute departures by helicopter, banging with rifles the up-reached hands of friends of the United States, who are begging not to be abandoned.

More proof that the surge is working.

Baghdad offensive cuts sectarian death toll.

It was the most dramatic sign yet that a stepped-up military offensive by more than 110,000 Iraqi and U.S security forces is, at least for now, curbing the sectarian violence that has turned the city’s streets into killing fields.

There has been a relative lull in sectarian attacks since Operation Imposing Law, seen as a last-ditch attempt to avert all-out civil war, began a few days ago.

Police normally report finding between 40 and 50 bodies a day in Baghdad, but Saturday’s toll was one of the lowest since the bombing of a Shi’ite shrine in Samarra a year ago unleashed a wave of violence that has caused tens of thousands of deaths.

And the Democrats are trying to stop this!

Democrats are doing all they can to help our enemies

As the surge is happening, the Democrats voted to undermine our President and our American troops. It can only be considered an act of treason to interfere with a strategy that is already taking place during wartime.

Have you noticed all the bad news in Iraq has slowed down? The borders to Iran and Syria have been sealed. Abu Ayyub al-Masri has been wounded and is on the run. Muqtada al-Sadr has fled to Iran. Just when it looks like we are making progress, the Democrats embark on a path that will only stop progress and help our enemies.

What a disgusting display of cowardice!

Former Mossad chief: Assassinate Ahmadinejad
Iranian president ‘says he wants to die a martyr so he should be sent to heaven’

“Ahmadinejad is the pusher of all the Muslim world toward fanaticism and extremism. In his case, he should be made to disappear from the arena. He has said he wants to become a shahid, a martyr, so I think he should get his wish and be sent to heaven,” Amit said.

Poland’s former communist regime wants to pay homage to US President Ronald Reagan by erecting his statue in the city’s Freedom Square.

In an open letter to the mayor of the southwestern city of Katowice, the former anti-regime activists said that the staunchly anti-communist Reagan had been a “symbol of liberty,” the Polish news agency PAP reported.

As a result, they said, he deserved to become the centrepiece of the city’s Freedom Square, replacing a monument to the Soviet troops who drove out the occupying Nazis in 1945.

They also said that they wanted the site to be rebaptised “Ronald Reagan Freedom Square.”

One day they will be erecting a monument to George Bush in Iran!

Iranian nuclear scientist ‘assassinated by Mossad’

Thank God for Israel! When it comes to it’s own survival, it’s one country that doesn’t mess around.

A PRIZE-WINNING Iranian nuclear scientist has died in mysterious circumstances, according to Radio Farda, which is funded by the US State Department and broadcasts to Iran.

An intelligence source suggested that Ardeshire Hassanpour, 44, a nuclear physicist, had been assassinated by Mossad, the Israeli security service.

Hassanpour worked at a plant in Isfahan where uranium hexafluoride gas is produced. The gas is needed to enrich uranium in another plant at Natanz which has become the focus of concerns that Iran may be developing nuclear weapons.

This applies to today’s attitude on the war with radical Islam. A Liberal will never think like this.

The ultimate determinant in the struggle now going on for the world will not be bombs and rockets but a test of wills and ideas-a trial of spiritual resolve: the values we hold, the beliefs we cherish and the ideals to which we are dedicated.
